We were a group of four friends and had an amazing, friendly experience during our half-day spa visit on the 23rd November. The service was excellent, with refreshments provided during the 5-minute breaks. Both the floor management and therapists were highly professional and clearly skilled in what they do. Wow! Just wow. My partner and I decided to treat ourselves tonight with the Date Night Spa special on at Mangwanani Pivot.
Having read a host of negative reviews online, we were apprehensive but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt- and I am so glad we did.
From the warm welcome to the professional service and hands down one of the best massages I have ever received , this was such a great experience.
To address some of the negative reviews- the change rooms, while not massive, are comfortably sized. They can get a bit crowded at the end of a session (we attended on a fully booked Friday night ) , but in that case there is a bench outside to take a seat and wait for the crowd to clear. My partner tells me that the men's rooms are quite small, and one of the showers does not have a door.
The gowns are fine. They are clean and in reasonably good condition. Mine had a few loose threads, my partner's was perfect. I also saw some guests in newer looking cotton gowns, but overall, they were satisfactory.
Disposable slippers would have been nice. We were given standard sized black flip flops to wear. That being said, disposal slippers aren't very eco-friendly, and there are signs around the ladies' room attesting to the environmental impact and requesting guests to leave their flops behind.
Our treatments consisted of a head, neck and shoulder, foot, and full body massages. The treatments were done by different therapists in different rooms. At no point did we experience the therapists chatting amongst each other. The foot massage was done in a communal setting, and initially, some therapists did chat a bit with their guests (us included) but after a few minutes, everyone settled down into silence.
Luyanda and Siphesishle are some of the best massage therapists I have ever had.
It is unfortunate that some other guests may have been placed with less experienced therapists and thus felt as though the massage was not very good. Between my partner and I, we experienced 6 different therapists tonight, and we were incredibly impressed with all of them.
The dinner was fine. We weren't big fans of the chicken wrap, but it was satisfactory as a spa meal. I was surprised that along with dinner, dessert was available. The cakes were very good, and no one blinked an eye if we went back for another slice (or a second glass of wine).
All in all, a truly wonderful spa experience. A special thank you to Bianca and Nqobile for being so friendly. Well done to the team at Mangwanani Pivot! - 1/31/2025

Such a warm welcome from the front desk ladies...

Had a perfect half day spa with my grandma and everything was as expected. I’ve been to a couple of spas but this one is the best I’ve been to. The massage therapists are all nice and do their job extremely well with a friendly smile, from foot massage, to full body massage I’ll give them 10 out of 10.

Since I’m a foodie, wow had the best tasty roti chicken wrap.. big up to those who prepare their meals, I was impressed.

If you are looking for a calming and relaxing spa in the city, this could be it. The feet station could be made a bit more private and relaxing though- at my time of visit, there was a group of individuals who kept on either chatting or answering their phones loudly- overall the staff seem to be friendly and respective! ‘No phones allowed’ could easily resolve this problem! - 7/31/2024

I’ll start by saying the negative reviews are true. Having said that, the full day and half day packages are affordable and you get what you pay for. One can’t pay McDonalds prices and expect Marble quality. The trick is to go during the week when the spa is quieter. Yes, there are quite a few things that can be improved on eg. The notoriously old gowns and algae in the pool. I could list more issues but overall, based on what I paid, I got what I wanted - An inexpensive full day at the spa with six treatments, two meals, a relatively quiet and overall clean spa. Though this one doesn't top River Valley, the execution of the treatments and service is still on top. There is an added convenience of the location being within the Pivot. I came for a full day spa experience and left feeling happy. Treatments were fantastic, staff were friendly and everything went smoothly

My only complaint is that the boss of the Spa not be allowed to select music. There were like 10 songs selected which equaled a 1 hour playlist which was LOOPED for the WHOLE day. It dampened an otherwise amazing experience - 7/31/2023
