With an adrenaline packed adventure along the unique and free flowing Vaal River. It’s the perfect area for water sports and recreational outings.
Although considered tranquil and serene, it’s also a great destination to get in some white river rafting. You can do that with R.E.A.L. Adventures, located in Parys, in the Dome world heritage site, just 110km south from Johannesburg.
They specialise in outdoor adventures and employ highly qualified and trained staff to ensure that the experience is a safe, happy and memorable one. An added bonus is that they have a great picnic spot on site – so come prepared if you feel like enjoying a picnic after all that rafting!

About the Rafting Experience
- The route definitely packs a punch with excitement and adrenaline and is best for those who are inexperienced and would like to dip
- their toes in first, before tackling bigger and rougher routes.
- Duration: 1 – 1-hour 30-min depending on Water Level
- Distance: +/- 2 – 3km
- Start Point: REAL Adventures Base Camp
- End Point: REAL Adventures Base Camp

- While you will be concentrating on the action of rafting along the river, do take a few moments to take in the surrounding beauty!
What to Bring
- Come to the meeting point wearing the clothes you will be rafting in.
- Wear comfortable clothes and shoes that can get wet. Flip flops are not ideal as they float away when you fall in the water.
- Bring lots of sunscreen and keep applying during the rafting.
- If you are going to wear sunglasses, make sure you bring straps or a shoelace to tie it to your helmet.
- Dry clothes and towels should be kept in the car.
- We take a dry barrel on the water for small items such as cigarettes or a small camera.
