Mangwanani Winelands – Stellenbosch | Full-Day African Spa with Meals & Drinks for 1

I went for a full day spa, the experience was great! The food was nice and the live performance was awesome. I just wish that they were also playing music at where you do your full body and I wish they had more privacy that side. It would have been nice for them to have a jacuzzi. I've been to the old area, but I love where it is now. It's a smaller space but more intimate. The staff is so friendly and very hospitable. I booked a half day for my husband and i for his birthday. The treatments was so great...... So much so that I fell asleep a couple of times 😁. Will definitely be go back. Off the bat I have to say this is going to be a mixed review. I am going to be blatantly honest considering the costs of the treatments. I believe in getting value for money.
I purchased a Black Friday couples full day spa voucher. The first irritation was that we were forced to redeem it at the winelands branch and it needed to be used in the week. This meant I needed to take a days leave to use it.
This was not my first visit for the full day treatment but the last visit was in winter and this was in the heart of summer.
The welcome was warm and staff were friendly. We were shown our table and then taken to the change rooms to put on our robes and slippers. The cotton robes were lovely as it was hot for towelling. The slippers seemed a bit cheap but they did last the day. A thought would be to use the slippers as a marketing exercise and invest in a better quality, brand it so guests can take them home as a keepsake.
Breakfast was served and it was a bowl of muesli with yoghurt, a muffin and a scone with butter. In retrospect this breakfast could have been broken up by giving the muesli first and the muffin and scone a bit later maybe after the first or second treatment. To eat all 3 items at 08h30 is a bit much and many people sent the muffin and scone back so there is quite a bit of wastage.
The head and neck massage was enjoyable. But a big issue with the venue is that the aircons were not working so it got very hot really quickly. They opened doors and windows but that just allowed more heat in. One of the guests actually fainted during the first treatment.
The second issue is that they have ice water dispensers but very few glasses. They kept running out of glasses throughout the day. And guests needed to keep asking for glasses and they would only bring out one.
They decided to do the hand and foot treatments outside under the trees which was a pleasant experience as it was cooler with a bit of a breeze.
But the full body exfoliation and hot stone massage was done inside. It was so killer hot that our therapist decided to finish our treatment 10 minutes early because even they couldn’t stand the heat.
Also there are no oils or scents being burned in the treatment rooms, the staff are running around whole day in the heat and get sweaty. By the afternoon that odour is not pleasant and that takes away from the relaxing experience.
The other issue is that they did our hot stone full body massage the morning and the full body exfoliation the afternoon. It makes more sense to do it the other way round so that you end off with the massage.
Lunch was lovely, the chicken wrap was delicious and nutritious. Desert was yummy too.
We were asked to complete a feedback sheet after each treatment but there were no pens or pencils on the tables. Guests were constantly asking for pens.
The bathrooms are fine but the toilet seats are skew and flimsy. They move when you sit down. There is no staff checking bathrooms so when toilet paper is up it does not automatically get replaced, you need to ask for more.
Our experience in winter was much better because we did not have the heat issue. So that is something to consider when making a booking. For the price and brand name they should consider these issues or people will go elsewhere. - 7/31/2024 

We booked the moonlight night treatment for Mother’s Day and although the treatments were very nice. We would have preferred more privacy and not for it to have been in a group setting with people we did not know. My mother was very uncomfortable when she had to remove her arms from her gown for the neck, head and shoulder massage while another male sat right next to her. - 5/31/2025 

Most fantastic experience at Mangwanani Winelands. The ladies are so great at what they do and the enjoyment in their job is visible in their unbelievalble jovial dispositions.

Unfortunately the spa needs an upgrade. Interior starting to look sad. We were 4 people joining the night couples treatment. The food not great at all. For one, the chicken curry was sweet. The time of 1 hour to each neck/ shoulder and feet message way to long. It gets boring. The ladies do a great job, I suppose that is what the Spa is all about, but in all not the glamour feel one expect from 4hours at the Spa. - 7/01/2025 

I loved every moment at the Mangwanani Winelands Spa.
Food and refreshments were top class. So were the staff, the full day's 6× treatments plus facilities.

(Uber & Bolt drivers were the only issues, being impossible to get a ride back to the city, forcing me to ride in a BMW i8 instead 😜)

The scenery is stunning. The service wasn't bad either. Think they can improve in the food department and they need more air conditioning in certain massage areas, the place is a scorcher in summer. - 7/31/2018
