Known for its heavenly home-style lunches served in a converted animal enclosure, The Kraal on Joostenberg Wine Estate in Stellenbosch is welcoming the new season, with a series of spring-themed events and a new seasonal lunch menu.

What’s on the spring menu?

Spring’s arrival is palpable throughout the farm, seen in the flower-covered verges, green fields and cover crops bursting with fresh life. In step with the seasons, The Kraal’s menu is replete with flavours of the wild. Diners can expect the likes of radishes and carrots served with sourdough bread, nasturtium butter and tender fior di latte mozzarella; artichokes and asparagus with velvety citrus sauces; lamb and waterblommetjie bredie with wild leeks; and even mint-pelargonium ice cream with guava and granadilla.

Things to do at The Kraal this spring

Farm walk at Joostenberg Estate

This immersive half-day experience kicks off with fresh coffee and pastries on arrival, after which guests will be taken on a meander through the historic Joostenberg werf, along the farm road and into the vineyards, while learning about organic-vineyard farming and winemaking, as well as flower growing and renosterveld rejuvenation. Wine-tasting and snacks will be served along the way, ending the day on a high note with a three-course, farm-to-table set lunch in the courtyard garden.
